Agriturismo Niccolai is part of Azienda agricola Palagetto, a typical Tuscan concern which consists of a group of farmhouses in San Gimignano, originally farmers adobes, surrounded by cultivated hills where in ancient times they produced everything the family may need: wheat for bread, oil for seasoning, and wine, which was kept in typical flasks and drunk in feast days only.Today Azienda agricola Palagetto, an important local concern with 70hectares of land shared among vineyards (40hectares), olive groves (20hectares), sown fields, and woodland. The modern estate facilities include: the cellar, the tasting room, and the estate mill.
The Estate Palagetto also owns a small farm in Montalcino, where they produced an excellent Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and an inviting Rosso di Montalcino DOC.

The farmhouse Palagetto di sotto and the lovely Suite of Agriturismo Niccolai are located on the hillside 800m from the medieval town of San Gimignano and its famous towers.They are surrounded by the estate vineyards and olive groves, and immersed in the large and immaculate gardens of the tiny rural hamlet of Villa Palagetto, a group of ancient buildings dating back to the fourteenth century. Originally farmers adobes, today they have been carefully restored and divided into comfortable holiday rooms for guests seeking for a relaxing holiday in a peaceful haven, enjoying genuine local food and excellent wines.

Immersed in the peace and the tranquillity of the Tuscan countryside, Palagetto di sotto is a lovely farmhouse surrounded by a splendid rose-garden, which produces its colourful flowers for great part of the year spreading delicate fragrances all around.In this ancient building Agriturismo Niccolai provides comfortable accommodation in 5 double bedrooms and one suite with modern ensuite bathrooms, and furnished elegantly with antiques. The rooms are named after the traditional Tuscan vines which made Azienda Agricola Palagetto famous all over the world.
Room Vernaccia: double bedroom on the ground floor which opens directly into the garden. The room is nicely furnished, and has a private shower room, satellite TV, air conditioning, heating, and wooden floors.
Room Malvasia: double bedroom on the first floor with typical wooden-beamed ceiling, a stunning view over the verdant hills, a private shower room, satellite TV, air conditioning, heating, and wooden floors.
Room Canaiolo: double bedroom on the first floor with a lovely view over Monteoliveto Abbey, typical wooden-beamed ceiling, private shower room, satellite TV, air conditioning, heating, and wooden floors.
Room Sangiovese: double bedroom on the first floor with a romantic view over the rolling hills, wooden-beamed ceiling, private shower room, satellite TV, air conditioning, heating, and wooden floors.
Room Trebbiano: double bedroom on the first floor nicely furnished in typical Tuscan country style, with a lovely view over Montauto valley, private shower room, satellite TV, heating, and air conditioning.
The Suite: this suite is located in a unique building with an original hexagonal base. It consists of a split level double bedroom (50mq), with a 360 amazing view over the Tuscan hills. Recently restored adding modern touches and furniture to the original architectural features, this suite has a luxury private bathroom with a chromatic shower, and it is fitted with all comforts such as air conditioning and satellite TV.

Agriturismo Niccolai Palagetto di sotto is located not far from the historical centre of San Gimignano, in the heart of the Tuscan hilly countryside.San Gimignano is a medieval centre of relevant historical interest. The town boasts Etruscan origins and developed in medieval times since it was on the ancient Via Francigena, an important road followed by hundreds of pilgrims and merchants. Fragments of the original walls along the via Francigena are still viewable nowadays. San Gimignano is registered in the list of Unescos World Heritage, and it is famous all over the world for its towers, (of the original 72 towers, only 14 remains), and for its important architectural monuments, in particular the fine Romanic Duomo. Besides its artistic treasures, the town is also famous for Vernaccia and Chianti, among the most renewed wines in Italy, which are produced in the area since the thirteenth century.
From San Gimignano, a visit to the most prized jewels of Tuscany is a lovely day trip out. The medieval towns of Siena (35Km away), Colle di Val DElsa (10Km), Monteriggioni (20Km), and Montalcino (90Km) are within easy driving distance, as is the Etruscan town of Volterra, 25Km away, Florence, the Cradle of Renaissance (45km), and Pisa (90Km) with its famous Piazza dei Miracoli.

The region of Chianti Classico is just 30Km away, and the ancient hilltop towns of Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, and Greve in Chianti are a joy to explore;
The region of Crete Senesi, with its distintive moon-like landscape, is 40Km away. This area is also scattered with wonderful abbeys, such as Abbazia di Monte Oliveto Maggiore.

Coming from Florence and/or Pisa (via Florence):
Exit motorway at Firenze-Certosa and take the dual carriageway Florence-Siena, first right signposted Siena. Take the first exit for Poggibonsi (called Poggibonsi Nord);
Coming from Siena:
Take the dual carriageway Siena-Florence. Follow signs for Firenze and take the second exit for Poggibonsi (called Poggibonsi Nord);
From exit Poggibonsi Nord follow signs for San Gimignano and continue for about 11km. At the roundabout with roses at the south entrance of San Gimignano, follow signs for Volterra; proceed on this road for 300mt, on the left you will see a big iron gate which open on the entrance alley to Villa Palagetto. Here you are: welcome!
