villaggio Poppiena Village Poppiena is an attractive rural village stood on a Camaldolese monastery, it is on the boundaries of National park of Camaldoli's forest, Monte Falterona and Campigna. 
This wonderful building, easy reachable, is in a oasis of peace and quiet, just only one kilometre from Pratovecchio country, and is an ideal base to visit famous castles as Romena, Poppi, Porcino and Palagio Fiorentino, besides very important spirituals placesstrong as Camaldoli and the Sanctuary of La Verna.

It consists in four picturesque small houses, restored with love and care in the full respect of its origins, it opens in a predominant position, with a suggestive view over Casentino valley just in front of Romena castle.  
The structure is surrounded by an Italian garden and it�s fit into a park, with wood, vineyard and fruit trees. It is the perfect frame for an holiday in a fresh relax atmosphere.

The village has a swimming pool (8 X 14 mt),that has all comforts, and is available from 05/01 to 09/30. It is in a sunny position from which you can enjoy one of the most suggestive views on Casentino valley. 
 Moreover it gives its guests a playground for children (with swing, slide, recreational path, table and another plays) and some mountain bikes, by which we can go through the paths of Casentino �s forests. 
 At your return, you can use the outside barbecues for good grills.

Castles and places to see In front of Poppiena there are the castle and the romanic church of S. Pietro in Romena, two famous and visited medieval buildings of the Casentino valley. 
Also you can visit the near castle of Palagio Fiorentino of Stia, the castle of Porciano and the castle of Papiano. 
If you also like archeology you'll find interesting visit the site of Masseto near to Ama, and the Etruscan area of Pieve a Socana in Castel Focognano where you'll find one the ancient and greatest altars of Europe.  
Poppi, with Anghiari, in the same province of Arezzo, is one of the beautiful villages of Italy according to this Italian site. From the castle of Conti Guidi family and from the "Pratello" you can give a 360� look of the Casentino valley.
